Piano Party Group Classes

Group Theory/ Keyboard Ensemble classes are a vital part of the program in this studio.  Since the piano is primarily studied as a solo instrument, most students never get the valuable opportunity to participate in a group or ensemble experience.  As a result, the solo student is very often weak in the area of beat and rhythm.   Playing in a group immediately “evens the score” so to speak, as the students MUST count in order to stay together!   The advantage of learning from each other also comes into play in a group setting.  It’s amazing to watch a student mastering a technique, skill or concept in just one Group Class what he or she has been struggling with in the private lesson for the entire year!  Aside from the musical benefits, GROUP LESSONS ARE JUST PLAIN FUN!!   Just ask the students.

Emphasis will be on the basics and fundamentals of music theory and sight reading, focusing on Rhythm Reading, Staff Note Reading  and Keyboard Geography.  We will use games, activities and ensemble playing to achieve our theory goals, hence the class name, Piano Party.  It's gonna be FUN!

This year the studio is planning 2 Group Performances, dates, times and venue to be announced at a later date.
